Posted on Wednesday, February 03, 2010

ATTENTION TO ALL Hispanics and Hispanic Advocates:

Our ninth annual Hispanic Day at Jefferson City is right around the corner, on Tuesday, February 9th.  Like last year, we will have a welcome reception the night before, February 8th, at the Capitol Plaza Hotel starting at 6:00 pm.  Then on Tuesday the 9th, we will have the formal program for Hispanic Day.  We will again be headquartered in the Truman Building , 301 W. High Street , Room 490.  A continental breakfast will be served from 8:00 – 9:00 am.  The morning will devoted to individual meetings with state legislators (an appointment will be made for you), followed by acknowledgement of our delegates on the floor of both the House and the Senate.  While there, we will have a tribute to Hispanic Day co-founder, Anthony Ramirez, who passed away last November.

The afternoon will feature breakout sessions with select legislators on the topics of health, education, and the economy (with special emphasis on the state budget).  We will have a seminar on effective advocacy, and we will hear from representatives of the Census, the Dept. of Higher Education, and the Office of Supplier and Workforce Diversity.

The cost of attending Hispanic Day is $10 (to cover the cost of breakfast and lunch).  You can register now for the event by clicking here.  I also ask you to renew your membership with of Hispanic Capitol Day, Inc.  Your modest $25 membership fee enables us to help subsidize costs associated with the event so that as many Hispanics and our supporters from around the state may attend.  You can renew your membership the day of the event.

On behalf of the board of directors of Hispanic Capitol Day, Inc., thank you for your support.  I hope to see you next month in Jefferson City .

Sincerely,

Jorge Riopedre

President, Hispanic Capitol Day, Inc.
